About Ashy

Ashy Blacksheep is a writer who hasn't yet managed to be "from" anywhere, but she finds her place in the world between the lines of poetry.

Tumbleweed that she is, Ashy's known the impossible green of palo verde trees, studied deeply the dusky hues of the columbine, struggled some to shake the hold of haze gray U.S. Navy ships, and she is irrevocably stuck like ponderosa sap on the beauty of the Black Hills. She rolled on through Chadron State College graduating summa cum laude with her bachelor's in Literature and Creative Writing. While in the high plains of Nebraska, Ashy was an author's assistant, lead editor for CSC's literary & arts journal, and inducted into the International English Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta.

These days, Ashy dedicates her time to the craft, writing poetry and stories that sting with the bravery of a skinned knee. She is a Pushcart Prize Nominee and her work can be found in such publications as The Minison Project, Sylvia Magazine, and Tenth Street Miscellany among others. When she's not working on her stick-and-twist poems, you can find her working at her local library, collaborating with other writers, or studying the shifting migratory patterns of unicorns.
